Abstract

1384062 Saddles E GOEDICKE 18 Dec 1972 [17 Sept 1971] 43358/71 Heading AIM Saddle tree for a riding saddle is moulded of rigid expanded plastics material such as foamed polyurethane and includes a reinforcing layer 6 which may be sheet polyethylene and has holes 7 to key it to the outer moulding. This reinforcing layer is extended out of the moulded plastics to form the forward points 3 to which the front iron (not shown) is attached by rivets through the holes 8. In manufacture, the thermo-plastic reinforcing sheet is held in the mould while the polymerisation of the outer material produces sufficient heat to soften the sheet and deform it permanently to the required shape.
