Abstract

1384063 Extracting gases from furnaces; air circulating FHD FURNACES Ltd 6 Sept 1972 [17 Sept 1971] 43537/71 Headings F4B and F4H Apparatus for extracting gas from the zone near a furnace or other chamber entry or exit, or at a point in a continuous furnace or other treatment chamber, comprises a wall 3 surrounding the entry or exit, or the chamber, having a slot 4 running wholly or partly round the path of goods in the chamber, and conduits 7 connecting the slot to gas extraction apparatus which may comprise gas ejectors mounted in T-junctions connecting the conduits 7 to exhaust ducts 15. The wall 3 has flanges 1, 2 so that the apparatus may be readily secured to a furnace wall, and each duct is shaped to connect the slot 3 to the stem 8 of the T-junction. By using two or more devices, and controlling the suction applied to each duct 7, the composition of a furnace atmosphere across a chamber can be controlled.
