Abstract

1320499 Pneumatic powder conveyer BRITISH INSULATED CALLENDER'S CABLES Ltd 17 Sept 1970 [18 Sept 1969] 46127/69 Heading B8A [Also in Division D1] Powder (e.g. chalk) is circulated from the lower part of a closed chamber to the upper part by entraining the powder in a gas (e.g. air) which is circulated through ducts leading from the lower part of the chamber to the upper part. In the figure, air and entrained powder emerge from duct 8 as a powder cloud to impinge directly on the upper part of cable 11 which is passed through inlet and outlet glands 4, 5, while air and entrained powder emerge from duet 12 to impinge on the lower part of the cable. Circulating devices 9, 10, 13, 14 situated in the ducts 8 and 12 use high pressure air to cause circulation of air and entrained powder from the lower part of the chamber to the upper part.
