Abstract

1382463 Loading dock bridge K ALTEN 20 April 1972 [21 April 1971] 18393/72 Heading B8E A loading dock bridging plate 1 is mounted on a carriage 5 which runs on a rail 6 fixed on the platform or ramp 2. The plate 1 is hinged to the carriage 5 at 4 and has a support lever 7 which holds it in the vertical inoperative or horizontal operative position by spring support. The carriage runs by wheels 14-16 engaging the vertical and horizontal ports of the rail 6. The wheels are resiliently mounted in plates 10, 12 so arranged that the wheels just support the bridge 1 but when any load is applied the resilient mountings are overcome and firm bearing projections 11 engage the rail to support the bridge in a position which is fixed on the rail 6. The wheels may be replaced by ball bearing assemblies the outer races of which contact the rail 6.
