Abstract
1382138 Selective connecting devices LAMSON ENG CO Ltd 27 June 1973 [26 July 1972] 35010/72 Heading F2G [Also in Division B8] In a Y-junction for a pneumatic tube system, with a pivotable deflector flap 8, two passageways (connected respectively to tubes 5 and 7) are curved longitudinally and the cross-sectional form of the passageways varies continuously from circular at 2, 4 and 6 to square at 13. A carrier may be sucked into tube 3, of the main line 3, 5, from the tube 7, with the flap 8 in the full-line position and then, after altering the position of the flap 8, blown into the tube 5. In a modification, a lever (20, Fig. 5, not shown) drops under gravity to move a flap (8<SP>1</SP>) into the raised position. An electric motor (22) is operated in response to signals of a control circuit to raise the arm.
