Abstract

1,244,573. 573. Raising liquids. WESTINGHOUSE ELECTRIC CORP. May 27, 1969 [June 11, 1968], No.26743/69. Heading F1R. A material lifting apparatus comprises a first conduit 12 having an inlet at its lower end in communication with a body of fluid to be transported upwardly, and a second conduit 24 for discharging air into the first conduit and which is disposed within the first conduit, the second conduit 24 terminates at a point I and is provided with a discharge portion comprised of a cover member 28 having small holes 30 and within which is disposed a turbine 32 which rotates by means of the air passing through the vanes 34, thus rotating blade 40, the conduit 24 is axially movable within the conduit 12. The conduit 12 passes through and is held by a gimbal 46 and the conduit 12 is joined to a flow deflector 47 which is bifurcated in the form of portions 53, 54 to be connected to receivers on either side of the apparatus a funnel member 63 receives the air pipe 24 and contains a pipe holding portion 65. The air pipe, in practice, is comprised of a number of sections and a wedge (71) Fig. 5 (not shown) secures the pipe 24 after each section is payed in.
