Abstract

1382037 Bearings REICH & CO 17 May 1973 [17 May 1972] 23591/73 Heading F2A A runner assembly comprises a wheel el ment 1 with a substantially radial web 3 mounted on a journal member 7 via a rolling bearing, and a ring 11 for masking the bearing from external matter, the rolling elements 5 being located between a resilient projection 9 on the web and a bearing surface 8 on the journal lying outside the plane in which the radial portion of the web is situated, and there being an axial extension 6 on the opposite side of the web which extends along the surface of the journal member to provide a second supporting means for the wheel element. The masking ring may be domeshaped or disc-shaped, and may be fastened to the journal member or form part of it. Alternatively, the masking ring may constitute a rolling bearing comb cage. The resilient projection may be provided with a concentric extension which is guided on a cylindrical surface or in an annular channel on the masking ring. The axial extension 6 may be surrounded by a bentover rim formed from the end of the journal member.
