Abstract

1381701 Manufacture of electric contact devices COMTELCO (UK) Ltd 6 Feb 1973 5839/73 Heading H1N A sealed mangetic reed contact device is made in the steps of securing a pair of reeds in the required spaced relationship, rigidly jointing them with an electrically conductive meltable connection piece, sealing the reeds in an envelope and melting the connection piece within the enclosure. An additional annealing step may take place after welding the connection piece to the reeds prior to the sealing operation in inert gas and the fusing of the piece by a current pulse through the device. If the connection piece is of magnetic material the pieces thereof which remain on the reed ends after fusing provide added magnetimass to the contacts.
