A current limiting fuse arrangement comprising an electrically insulated tubular shell, terminal means disposed next to each of the opposite ends of said shell, an electrically insulating support member disposed in said shell and axially extending between said terminal means, and a fusible element arranged in said casing on said support member and connected between said terminal members, at least the intermediate part of the support member on which said fusible element is arranged, being formed of a normally solid material that is intended to release a gas that assists in the extinction of an arc in the presence of an arc when said fusible element melts, said normally solid material being substantially non-conductive by its surface in the presence of an arc.
