Abstract

1381610 Mounting tubes in winding machines RHONE POULENC TEXTILE 14 Sept 1972 [15 Sept 1971] 42760/72 Heading D1J [Also in Division F2] In a drum winding machine the package former tube is supported between two discs 9 and 10 mounted on a "U" shaped frame 1 having a resiliently biassed arm 2. Each disc bears on the tube 7 with a radial face 20 and a radially inwardly facing face formed e.g. by a skirt 14. The face 20 has a neoprene lining 16 and the skirt 14 has a neoprene insert 15. The skirt 14 may be circumferentially continuous or formed in segments, Fig. 4. (not shown). A core 21, Fig. 5, may be provided and embody protruberances 22 to distort the tube 7 into contact with the skirt.
