Abstract

1378821 Roller entry guides FRIEDRICH KOCKS 3 Jan 1972 [3 Feb 1971] 44/72 Heading B3M A roller entry guide, for a wire rod rolling stand, incorporates guide rollers 2 each carried on an arm 6 which is pivotally mounted at 10 in a common housing 8, a leaf spring 16 acting on each arm to bias it towards a central pass line 12. The springs are supported in a cylindrical cap 26 removably fixed to the housing 8, and are opposed by adjusting screws 20, Fig. 3, which control the positions of the arms. The cap also serves to retain an entry funnel 34 within the housing. Cooling water passes through passages in the guide, and leaves the guide through conduits 48 to cool the work rolls of the associated stand.
