Abstract

1378160 Curlers L'OREAL 20 Dec 1971 [21 Dec 1970] 59090/71 Heading A4V [Also in Divisions A5 and H5] The hair curler, roller, or hood of Specification 1376136 is modified by incorporating the high frequency current generator inside the conductive envelope of the resonator or by locating a high frequency power amplifier in the envelope. As shown the hair curler comprises a P.T.F.E. core carrying windings 14, 15 and a conductive envelope comprising a conducting disc 2 a perforated removable cylinder 5 and a metal base member 7. Mounted on the base 7, which is finned for cooling is a NPN transistor 9. A coaxial cable comprising a core conductor 10 and a conducting sheath 11 is connected to the base member 7 and to the emitter of the transistor 9 by a wire 12. The base of the transistor is connected to one end of coil 14, the other end 14a being free. One end 16 of coil 15 is connected to the collector of the transistor 9 and its other end to a lead 17 connected to core 10 of the coaxial cable by a coaxial filtering capacitor 18. The base of the transistor 9 is connected to the conductor 17 by a resistance 19. This arrangement ensures that the interval frequency of the resonator is always the same as that of the generator. In Fig.3 (not shown) a high frequency generator fed by a coaxial cable and located in a compartment of the resonator cavity feeds energy into the cavity by means of a coupling element. This embodiment may be modified by replacing the high frequency generator by a high frequency power amplifier which is fed with a D.C. amplifying current and a low power high frequency current along the coaxial cable. One low power high frequency source may supply a plurality of curlers of this construction. In Figs.4 and 5 (not shown) the high frequency generator located within the resonator cavity includes two transistors and associated circuitry.
