Abstract

1377018 Cleaning blankets HEIDELBERGER DRUCKMASCHINEN AG 15 Nov 1972 [24 Nov 1971] 52773/72 Heading B6C A washing device for an offset printing machine comprises a washing roller 2 frictionally driven by the blanket cylinder 9 of the machine, a scraper or doctor roller 14 having a doctor blade 21 for deflecting ink removed from the washing roller into a drip tray 19 and a distribution roller 40 situated below the washing fluid supply means for distribution of washing fluid on to the washing roller. The rollers are mounted in a frame 1 which is swingable toward and away from the blanket cylinder to engage or disengage the washing roller. The washing fluid supply comprises a sprinkler pipe 26 having nozzles 31 closed by sealing members 45 which are mounted on a rod 49 for simultaneous closure of all nozzles. The rod 49 also carries cams 35 which actuate bell-cranks 34 to move the frame 1. The washing roller has a soft outer layer 10 and is axially reciprocable.
