Abstract

1428491 Dampening apparatus ROLAND OFFSETMASCHINENFABRIK FABER & SCHLEICHER AG 27 April 1973 [2 May 1972] 20216/73 Heading B6C Dampening liquid from fountain 10 is applied to lithographic plate cylinder 1 by forme inking roller 4, to which it is supplied by a roller 12 which is rotated with the same circumferential speed as the plate cylinder. The roller 12 has an elastic ink receptive coating and is supplied with dampening liquid by a hard-surfaced variablespeed hydrophilic roller 11, controlled so that an adjustable amount of slip is present between the rollers 11 and 12. Preferably the roller 11 is chromium-surfaced, the rollers 4, 12 have rubber coatings, that on the roller 12 being the harder, and the duct roller has an elastic surface. The duet roller may be geared to the roller 11, so that it rotates with a constant slip against the roller 11, and the roller 11 may be axially reciprocated.
