1376091 Plant growth media containing crosslinked polymers UNION CARBIDE CORP 22 Dec 1972 59412/72 Heading C1B [Also in Divisions A5 and C3] Plant growth media and fertilizer compositions comprise free-flowing, water swellable, radiation cross-linked hydrophilic polymers (see Division C3) characterized by high waterretentive properties and a content of inert filler material exemplified by wood flows, wood pulp fluff, tree bark, cellulose flocs, cotton linter floes, nylon flocs, rayon flocs, perlite, diatomaceous earth, talc, clay, fly ash, magnesium silicate, silica, soil, sand, peat moss, vermiculite, gypsum, calcium carbonate, urea, tricalcium phosphate and/or dibasic calcium phosphate.
