Abstract

1375061 Antistatic coatings FUJI PHOTO FILM CO Ltd 7 Feb 1972 [8 Feb 1971] 5664/ 72 Heading B2E [Also in Division G2] An article in the form of a film for photographic use or a moulding, is made of a cellulose ester, a polyester such as polyethylene terephthalate or polystyrene and has a coating comprising a mixture of a dichlorophenylphenyl sulphone and an antistatic agent which may be cationic, anionic or amphoteric and of which many examples are listed. The mixture may be coated on the film in solution by spraying or dipping optionally together with a binder such as gelatin, polyvinyl alcohol, a polycarbonate or cellulose acetate, particularly the triacetate. Alternatively the mixture may be incorporated into at least one auxiliary layer of a silver halide photographic film, such as in an anticurl or antihalation layer. In an example, pieces of film are dipped in a composition of the mixture and a binder in solution, dried, then coated on one side with a gelatino silver chlorobromide photographic emulsion containing 30 mole % silver.
