1372437 Moulding buildings; gripping tools UNICO Inc 14 Aug 1972 37794/72 Headings B5A and B4W [Also in Divisions E1-E2 and H2] A building (see Divisions E1-E2) is formed as an integral unit from a synthetic material such as polyurethane foam, between inner and outer mould portions 30, 40, 46 (Fig. 5), the plumbing, electrical circuitry, door and window frames &c. being positioned in the mould before moulding. The inner mould portion 30 defining adjoining rooms is positioned by hydraulic jacks 38 adjacent a floor 39. A baseplate 134 (Fig. 12), interior door frames, elec- 'trical circuitry, plumbing, air conditioning conduits &c., are located on the inner mould portion 30 adjacent apertures through the mould walls. The outer mould 40, moving on rails 45, roof mould 46, window and exterior door frames are positioned, and the mould portions clamped with clamps 60. Polyurethane foam is pumped from a supply 52 (Fig. 5) and air evacuated from the mould (not further disclosed) and after curing, the mould is dismantled and the building transported on the base-plate 134 (Fig. 12) by helicopter for spraying and decorating. The outer mould portions are contoured te give the building the appearance of wood or aluminium cladding, bricks or stone. Mould clamps.-The mould clamps 60 (Fig. 12) are pivoted at 62 to the outer mould portions 40 and a pivoted clamp head 69 engages an inner mould shoulder 30a. A handle 66 turns a screwed shaft to clamp the head 69, which is released by pivoting with handle 72. Positioning inserts.-Frames &c. are located by guns 80 (Fig. 12) engaging the mould. A rod 94 (Fig. 10) when moved to the right and rotated retracts and holds latches 87 within a barrel 84, which is then inserted through the mould wall to engage the frame &c. with the released latches 87. A trigger 105 moves a ratchet 108 engaging teeth 111 on the barrel 84, to move the barrel to the right and clamp the frame. After moulding, a lever 114 releases the ratchet teeth 111 from a retaining dog 116, to free the barrel 84 for movement to the left, and then removal from the frame and mould. Inserts.-Air conditioning units are embedded, and comprise preassembled central control unit, conduits and thermostat (see Figs. 14, 15 not shown). A preassembled electrical system (see Division H2) of control box, terminals and conduits is used (see Figs. 16-19, not shown). Plumbing, window and door frames (see Divisions E1-E2) are embedded. Tongs.-A pair of tongs for handling the inserts comprises grippers 256 (Fig. 21) pivoted at 257 to a rod 255 spring-urged upwardly within a barrel 254. A handle 261 pivoted to a fixed extension 260 of the barrel 254 retracts or projects the grippers 256 from the barrel, the grippers being pivoted closed by camming surfaces 258, 259.
