Abstract
1372128 Feeding sheets AB PRINTING EQUIPMENT 25 Sept 1972 [5 Oct 1971] 44275/72 Heading B8R Sheets 2 fed over a feed table 1 to a pivoted front register stop 12 are first engaged by a retarding hook member 3 which follows a path 10 so as to take the sheet up to the stop and then return below the table into position to receive the next sheet. The member 3 carries a photoelectric detector 5 having a lamp 7 and light receiver 6. When a sheet is correctly positioned in the member 3, it reflects light to the receiver 6 to produce a signal which allows normal opera. tion to continue. If a sheet is not correctly positioned, the light is reflected by the surface 9 of an aperture 8 in the member 3 away from the receiver 6, so that in the event of misalignment, feeding of a sheet over the member 3, failure to feed, or displacement of a sheet during its passage within the member 3 to the stop 12, failure of the signal stops the sheet feed, trips the cylinder of the processing-machine and stops the machine.
