Abstract
1370506 Purifying IC engine exhaust gases; treating charge AZ MORIN S ROTA and E SCAPPATURA [trading as MRS DEVELOPMENT HOLDINGS] 26 July 1972 34908/72 Heading F1B The exhaust gases flow through a heat exchanger, Fig. 2 (not shown) in a chamber 5 through which coolant is circulated from an inlet 6 to an outlet 7. The cooled gases pass through a filter unit 20 in which condensed liquid and solid particles are collected to drain to a tank 26. Downstream of the unit 20 the lighter gases are fed to the intake 29 of a carburetter air cleaner 30 and the heavier gases are discharged through a pipe 32 to the atmosphere. A liquid trap 33 in the pipe 32 returns liquid to the tank 26. Gases above the liquid in the tank 26 are fed through a pipe 35 to the intake 29.
