Abstract

1517115 Silencing and cooling engine exhaust gases HUNSLET (HOLDINGS) Ltd 29 April 1977 [21 May 1976] 21019/76 Heading F1B [Also in Division B1] A curved Venturi tube 13 adapted to be connected to an I.C. engine exhaust manifold extends into the container 10 with its throat 15 below the substantially constant water level therein and its outlet 14 above the water level. Water is entrained through vertically spaced apertures 16, 17 in the throat 15 into exhaust gases flowing through the tube 13, noxious substances being dissolved in the water. The gases from the outlet 14 are deflected by one or more baffles 19 on passage to the container outlet 18.
