Abstract

1369444 End closures for bags JOHN DICKINSON & CO Ltd 29 Nov 1971 [30 Dec 1970] 61900/70 Addition to 1239906 Heading B8K The end of a bag, which is coated on its inner surfaces, at least at its end portion, with heatsealable material, is closed by folding over the end portion twice about fold lines 8, 9 and securing it by adhesive areas 10, 11 and then heat sealing together the opposite inner surfaces within the turned-up portion. The heat-sealing is carried out between a heated jaw (14), which contacts the turned-up portion, and a cooled jaw (16) which ensures that the opposite inner surfaces within the bag are left unsealed. The bag may be flat, or may have side-gussets 6 and may have a protruding lip 7 at the end. The bag may be of paper, film, foil or a lamination of any or all of these.
