1369391 Welding by fusion LEYBOLDHERAEUS-VERWALTUNG GmbH 2 May 1973 [28 June 1972] 20745/73 Heading B3R [Also in Division H1] An electron beam welding apparatus for welding discoidal objects 11, 12 along a circular path, comprises means for producing a beam 4 of electrons and a vacuum chamber 6 which includes two opposing wall members 13 and 14 which are movable between loading and working positions, shown on the left and right of the figure, each wall member having a work holding device 15 which can be rotated by a motor 18, the two axes of rotation being at an angle of 120 to 180 degrees and symmetrically disposed about the axis of the beam 4. Deflection means 3 directs the electron beam to a selected one of the workpieces. The wall members 13, 14 are moved by hydraulic rams 21, 22, 25.
