Abstract

1369081 Vehicle steering arrangements H STEINER Ltd 23 Dec 1971 [1 Jan 1971] 57/71 Heading B7H A vehicle is provided with a steering mechanism operable from a remote position as well as from the drivers cab. An auxiliary motor 5 mounted on the column 6 is selectively engageable via pinion 8 to drive pinion 9 on the column. During normal operation pinions 8 and 9 are not engaged. Fluid is supplied to drive the motor 5, which may be a rotary vane hydraulic motor, in either direction via a manually controlled control valve situated at the remote position. The control valve may be fitted with a dead man's handle control, and the motor 5 may be electric or pneumatic. A transmission means, also operable from the remote position, may also be provided.
