Abstract

1368886 Brake-spinner-feed device PLATT INTERNATIONAL Ltd 13 March 1973 [13 March 1972] 11526/72 Heading DIN In a sliver feeding device of an open end spinning machine the movement of a member, biased towards and forming a feed nip with a feed roller, is so limited that the minimum distance between the member and an opening roller periphery remains constant. As shown, Fig. 1, member 2 has surface 10 forming a nip with feed roller 3, and his ribs 11 guiding sliver 5. The member is biased by adjustable spring 18, and is guided by fixed pins 16, 17 projecting into member slot 15. Slot sides 15a and member surface 12 have a centre of curvature co-incedent with the rotational axis of opening roller 4. Sliver guide channel 13 is formed by two ribs 14 and surface 12a which is parallel to a tangent to the opening roller. Trash is collected in chamber 24. A fixed, part-annular spigot may replace the pins (Fig. 4, not shown). Alternatively, Fig. 5, rectangular member 30 is movable on fixed pin 37, slides on housing surface 41, and is biased by spring 38. Surface 41, and member surfaces 40, 32, are parallel to a tangent to opening roller 4. Ribs 34 form sliver guide channels on surface 32.
