1368743 Moulding buoyant articles METTOY CO Ltd 1 Dec 1971 [4 Dec 1970] 57751/70 Heading B5A In a method of manufacturing a float or buoy having an expanded polystyrene core and an outer skin of ethylene/vinyl acetate copolymer or polyethylene, a layer of the skin material is formed in a heated rotating mould and the lined mould is then charged with pre-expanded polystyrene beads which on heating in the rotating mould expand and become bonded to the skin material to form a composite article; water is introduced into the mould with the polystyrene to assist in heat distribution through steam formation on heating.
