Abstract

1368474 Fibre drawing apparatus A L GARCIA 3 Nov 1971 [6 Nov 1970] 51144/71 Headings D1D and DIN [Also in Division F2] In a fibre drawing apparatus feedstock fibres are distributed into a uniform layer of aligned and parallel fibres, e.g. by interleaving toothed rollers 2, 3, 4, 5. The drawing section comprises a pair of gripping rollers 8 which cooperate with a grooved drum 10 and tensioning roller 9. A treading roller 11 serves to grip the fibres in the grooves 20 of drum 10 to produce the drawing effect together with a combining action produced, e.g. by teeth 17 on drum 10. A second treading roller 31 may be provided. The fibres are discharged, e.g. by fluted rolls 12 of which there may be two pairs, Fig. 6 (not shown). The fibres are wound at 14 after passing over a conveyor belt, Fig. 1 (not shown) or being ironed by a fluted roll 33 against a plain roll 32. A condensing stage may occur between rolls 12 and 32. Fibre detaching rolls 30 may be employed having picks 50 attached to bars 49 running in fixed eccentric guideways 48 to extend the picks only on the working side of the roll, Fig. 8, see also Fig. 7 (not shown).
