Abstract

1368157 Hauling apparatus TRACTEL SA 18 Jan 1972 2307/72 Heading B8B An apparatus 1 for either climbing a cable 6 when a load is coupled to the apparatus or for hauling the loaded cable 6 through the apparatus comprises a driven grooved pulley 3 partially around which the cable 6 is wound and in the groove of which the cable is pressed by clamps 15 which are pressed by rollers 21, 22, 23 under the influence of the load on the cable. The clamps 15 are formed as one endless chain 13 guided in a channel 12 remote from the pulley 3, and driven by engagement with the drum in the cable clamping area so as to follow the cable without any relative slipping. The chain 13 is driven by notches 19 in flanges 18 of the pulley 3 engaging rollers on the chain link pins 14, the rollers otherwise running over profiled side flanges 11 of the guide 12. The rollers 21, 22, 23 are mounted on a pivoted element 27 of a spring biased linkage system 31, 32, 34 coupled to a plastic roller 35 over which the cable 6 passes in leaving the apparatus 1, the system being arranged such that with increased tension in the cable 6 the roller 35 is deflected to cause an increased force of the rollers 21, 22, 23 on the cable on the pulley 3. A stationary cable guide 47 prevents the cable from leaving the pulley 3 and a further tubular guide 48 directs the slack cable from the pulley to the outer surface of the endless chain 13 for exit from the apparatus 1. In a modification (not shown) the endless chain is guided by a pair of idler rollers replacing the flanged guide.
