Abstract
1368018 Chimney linings PULLMAN Inc 6 Sept 1972 [7 April 1972] 41399/72 Heading F4J A chimney with a sectionalized steel liner 2 comprises a lower liner section 6 with flue openings 4 and an upper liner section 12 respectively attached to the chimney casing by supports 5 and 10, an intermediate liner section 15 attached to said sections 6 and 12 by expansion joints 13 and 14 and expansible supports 16 by which said intermediate liner section 15 is suspended from said upper liner section 12. Each support 15, Fig. 2, comprises an hydraulic or mechanical expansible or compressible unit 20 with threaded rod 21 pivotally attached to members 19, 22 themselves attached to box type units 34, 36. The support may be attached between the lower and intermediate liner section in which case it is compressible rather than expansible (Fig. 4). The expansible joints are of steel covered by conventional insulation 17, e.g. asbestos, fibreglass or mineral wool.
