Abstract

1,001,461. Chimneys. F. E. BEAUMONT Ltd. Jan. 31, 1964 [Feb. 18, 1963], No. 6530/63. Heading F4J. A chimney made from sheet steel comprises a plurality of annular sections joined together one upon the other, at least one of the intermediate sections being of or including an upwardly reducing portion of frustoconical form. As shown, the chimney 10 comprises cylindrical sections 12, 13, 15, 16 and 17, a frusto-conical base section 11 including a cylindrical brick lining 23 and an inspection panel 28, and an intermediate reducing section 14 having cylindrical portions 20 and 21 connected by a frusto-conical portion 22. Adjacent sections are joined together by bolts passing through abutting peripheral flanges, and the chimney is anchored in a concrete base by bolts passing through a plurality of peripherally spaced flanges, Figs. 3 and 4 (not shown).
