Abstract
1366441 Preparation of butylated hydroxyanisole EASTMAN KODAK CO 23 June 1972 [23 June 1971] 29614/72 Heading C2C Butylated 4-hydroxyanisole having the 3- isomer (i.e. 3-t-butyl-4-hydroxyanisole) present in a concentration of greater than 95% by weight, is prepared by adding an aqueous solution of lithium, sodium, potassium, rubidium, or caesium hydroxide over one to three and a half hours to an agitated system of t-butylhydroquinone and dimethyl sulphate in an organic solvent at 30‹ to 50‹ C.
