Abstract

1366332 Apparatus for winding yarn BARMAG BARMER MASCHINENFABRIK AG 16 Dec 1971 [4 March 1971] 58445/71 Heading D1J The invention relates to apparatus of the kind in which a bobbin package 1, Fig. 1, that is normally driven by a drive drum 4 is mounted on a hollow shaft 30, the hollow shaft 30 having a push rod 7 therein that can be pushed axially into the shaft 30 to loosen a chuck securing the bobbin tube 3 to the hollow shaft 30. According to the invention there is a drive motor 16 for the hollow shaft 30, the motor 16 having a drive shaft 15 that is axially displaceable from an inactive rest position 26 to a position 25 in which it drives the shaft 30, and thence axially to a further setting 24 in which it pushes the rod into the shaft 30 to to loosen the chuck therein. The motor 16 can be used to bring the package 1 up to speed before the package is brought into engagement with the driving roller 4. Similarly the motor 16 can be used to brake the package 1 prior to its being doffed. In Fig. 1 a spring system moves the motor 16 to the setting 25 unless a piston and cylinder unit 17 is activated to move the motor 16 to position 24 or 26. Figs. 5 and 6 (not shown) show how the motor 16 may itself be the piston in the cylinder of the unit 17. Fig. 5 shows a separate brake (14) for stopping the doffed package. Fig. 7 (not shown) illustrates how two bobbin holders may be mounted in parallel on a bobbin-changing assembly (32) of a continuous winding apparatus so that as one bobbin holder (3') is swung away from the package drive drum 4 it moves towards the apparatus associated with the piston and cylinder unit 17; and the bobbin holder (3") that was previously aligned with the piston and cylinder unit 17 moves towards the drive drum 4. Figs. 2, 3 and 4 (not shown) illustrate alternatives to the drive connection 11, 9 of Fig. 1. Fig. 8 (not shown) in a circuit diagram for use with the apparatus of Fig. 7 showing how an empty bobbin 3 can be brought up to a peripheral speed higher than that of the drive roller 4 before it is brought into engagement with the drive roller.
