1364963 Presser foot; throat plate SINGER CO 20 June 1972 [15 March 1972] 28840/72 Heading D1G A presser foot comprises a sole plate 11, having needle apertures 19 at the sides thereof, a bracket 20, presenting ears 22, 23 one at each side thereof, a pivot pin 27 extending between the ears and slidable supporting a shiftable spacer block 29. The width of the block is substantially equal to the distance between the centres of the needle apertures 19 and the ears are so spaced as to receive between them a snap on shank 36 in addition to the block 29. Thus the shank may be snapped on to pin 27 at either side of block 29 to bring a selected aperture 19 beneath the needle of the sewing machine, when stitching a sliding clasp fastener to a garment or when making a corded seam. The sole plate 11 and the block 29 may be of plastics and the former presents upstanding rod portions 12 (and 13, Figure 1 not shown) which extend through holes (24) in the sheet metal bracket 20 before being ultrasonically swaged over. The ends of cross pins 27 are upset after assembly with the bracket 20 and block 29. Work support.
