Abstract
1364870 Dihydrocarbylphosphino aromatic carboxylic acids SHELL INTERNATIONALE RESEARCH MAATSCHAPPIJ BV 30 Nov 1971 [2 Dec 1970] 55530/71 Heading C2P [Also in Divisions C3 and C5] Dihydrocarbyl-phosphino substituted aromatic carboxylic acids may be prepared by adding to a solution of sodium in liquid ammonia a trihydrocarbyl phosphine, ammonium chloride and a fluoro aromatic carboxylic acid or sodium salt or ester thereof, allowing the ammonia to evaporate, saponifying the ester if present and acidifying. Examples describe the preparation of (I) o-diphenylphosphinobenzoic acid from triphenyl phosphine and sodium ofluorobenzoate, (II) p - diphenylphosphinobenzoic acid from triphenylphosphine and ethyl p-fluorobenzoate, and (XXIII) o-methylphenylphosphinobenzoic acid from methyl diphenyl phosphine and o-fluorobenzoic acid.
