Abstract
1364365 Treating knitwear and hosiery mounted on forms KARL FISCHER APPARATE-U ROHRLEITUNGSBAU 18 Feb 1972 [2 March 1971] 7574/72 Heading D1L In a method for treating knitwear and hosiery mounted on forms the articles to be treated are pulled over rotatably and pivotally mounted form members and run through a wet and/or heat treatment plant with the form members rotating intermittently about their longitudinal axis, the form members being pivoted in their horizontal position during some of the stages of the treatment plant and in their vertical position during the remainder of the stages of treatment. The method is particularly suitable for the finishing treatment of stockings or pantyhose of synthetic material which are treated with their form members horizontal during washing, dyeing rinsing and spin-drying and vertical during placing and removing of the stockings and also during plastification, finishing and drying stages. A transporting unit for carrying out the method comprises a trolley 4 having wheels 5 running on guide rails 9 disposed throughout the treatment plant, stabilising rollers 6 journalled in the upper part of the side of the trolley 4 to cooperate with guide face 10 mounted on the frame 11 which also carries the guide rails 9 and transporting belt 13 running on rollers 12 mounted in frame 11 and having sprockets 14 for engaging in openings (7) (Fig. 2, not shown) in the side of the trolley to move the trolley through the treatment plant. The trolley 4 comprises a carrier 18 pivotable about trunnion 8, a roller 19 journalled in portion 18b to engage a rail 20 mounted on the frame 11, a form member 22 mounted on shaft 21 having drive wheel 24 mounted at the other end thereof and spray plate 25 mounted to protect the bearings 23 from treatment fluid applied to knitwear or stockings mounted on form member 22. Rail portion 20 is mounted on frame 11 so as to twist between the positions illustrated in Figs. 7 and 8 and thus cause the form member to pivot between its horizontal and vertical position. Drive wheel 24 is connected to means (not shown) for rotating the form member 22 during treatment. The rotation of the form member may be braked when necessary by electromagnet 25' acting on magnetisable protective plate 25.
