Abstract

1364022 Roller conveyers RAPISTAN Inc 26 July 1972 [30 July 1971] 34973/72 Heading B8A In a roller conveyer having article-support rollers 14 drivable by an endless belt 16, the belt is moved between driving and non-driving positions by inflatable tubes 30 and rollers 18. The conveyer is divided into zones A-E and each zone is provided with a brake 100 of which a friction pad 108 may engage an article support roller 14. When roller 18 is in its raised position, pivoted brake arm 102 is lowered at its pad end but when the roller 18 is lowered, spring 110 causes the pad 108 to be raised into engagement with the roller 14. In Fig. 9, an auxiliary rapid exhaust valve 120 is provided in the pressure line 126, 128 between valve 44 and actuator tube 30. The valve 120 increases the speed of venting of the tube 30 such that, when the conveyer is operated at high speed, control by sensor (46), Fig. 7 (not shown), is improved. In a modification, Fig. 10 (not shown), rapid clearing of the conveyer is effected by a manually operated valve (131).
