Abstract
1363118 Contacting column UNIVERSAL OIL PRODUCTS CO 2 Nov 1971 50809/71 Heading B1R A contacting column comprises a first plurality of vertically spaced trays 2 each having elongate areas of multiple perforations 15 elongate non-perforate areas 16 and an open area 4 for vertical flow of the non-dispersed phase, a second plurality of trays 8 interspaced between the first trays, each having a non-perforate area in alignment with the open areas 4, open areas 9 in alignment with the non-perforate areas 16, and perforate areas 10 in alignment with the perforations 15, vertically disposed weirs 12 and curtain walls 13 extending upwardly and downwardly respectively from each tray adjacent the open areas thereof. The trays may be supported by interconnecting struts 21, Figs. 6 and 7 (not shown). The open areas 9 and each half of trays 2 may be segment shaped or annular in cross-section.
