Abstract
1363013 Vacuum switches SPRECHER & SCHUH AG 18 Feb 1972 [8 Oct 1971] 7666/72 Heading H1N An arcing electrode arrangement comprises fixed arcing electrodes associated with relatively movable contacts, each electrode being formed by a plurality of spaced plates 9, 10, the edges of the plates of one electrode being disposed opposite those of the other electrode so that the arc roots on the edges of the plates and ionized gases pass through the spaces between the plates, these spaces having a width at least equal to the thickness of the plates. In a vacuum switch, the electrodes surround the fixed and movable contacts 3, 7 and are formed by radial plates 9, 10 carried by tubular supports 4, 8. In other arrangements the plates may be parallel, Fig. 3 (not shown), concentric, Fig. 4 (not shown), or radial, but bent, Fig. 5 (not shown).
