1361466 Ratchet screwdrivers JAMES NEILL HOLDINGS Ltd 23 June 1972 [27 July 1971] 35085/71 Heading B3N A ratchet screwdriver comprises a handle 2, a body 11 housing a ratchet mechanism, a screwdriver blade 3, a slider 6 for reversing and locking the ratchet mechanism extending through a slot 7 in one side of the handle, a groove 10 extending along a hole 5 in the handle from the slot to the open end of the hole, and a plug for closing the open end of the hole and the adjoining end of the groove, with the screwdriver blade projecting through a bore therein. The groove 10 may emerge in a peripheral recess or counterbore at the open end of hole 5, the plug fitting tightly in the recess or counterbore. Alternatively, the plug has a spigot 15 fitting inside a socket in the adjacent end of the body 11. The plug may be a tight push fit or be secured by adhesive. Slider 6 has ribs 9 for engagement with notches 8 in the sides of the slot. The handle and plug may be formed from plastics.
