Abstract

1360931 Feeding sheets VIDOSA SA 24 April 1972 [23 April 1971 22 March 1972] 19475/72 Heading B8R The top sheet 14, of metal or metal foil, of a pile 12, Figs. 1 and 2, is separated from the pile by the upward movement of a plurality of suction grippers 7 mounted on a movable frame 2 which is raised by a piston 31 so that the sheet is brought into contact with a plurality of magnetic rollers 11 mounted on a fixed frame 1, and actuates a switch 53 to release the suction. The grippers 7 are then moved laterally by piston-cylinder assemblies 50 out of the way of the sheet 14, so that the frame 2 can be lowered to receive the next sheet, while the sheet 14 is forwarded, in contact with the rollers 11, by a driver member 18 actuated by a further pistoncylinder assembly 22 to feed rollers 19. Each gripper 7, Fig. 5, comprises a suction cup 71 attached to a hollow piston 72 displaceably mounted in a housing 73 and having an opening 74. When the switch 53 is actuated, a solenoid 75 raises the piston 72 to bring the opening 74 out of the housing so as to communicate with atmosphere and release the suction. The suction in the cup 71 is self-generated.
