Abstract

1359583 Extruding strippable core sheathing SIEMENS AG 12 Jan 1972 [12 Jan 1971] 1524/72 Heading B5A [Also in Division H1] In the simultaneous extrusion from die passages 10, 11 of inner and outer thermoplastics, elastomeric, or rubber sheaths on to an electric cable or a tube passing through a tubular die mandrel 7, subsequent mechanically stripping of the outer sheath from the inner, e.g. for effecting electrical connections is facilitated by preventing adhesion between the sheath by a release agent applied through a porous die wall, e.g. 13, 14, respectively to the inner surface of the outer, and/or the outer surface of the inner layer of sheathing material passing through the die passages 11, 10. The release agent may comprise silicon containing oils, pastes, talcum powder, or mica powder, and may be supplied to the porous die wall via axial and circumferential passages 17, 16, or via radial, axial, and circumferential passages 19, 18 and 15. The porosity of the die wall may be effected by fine bores, or by a porous material, e.g. ceramic, or polyletrafluoroethylene, or sintered bronze. A plurality of the porous die walls may be arranged in the extrusion direction.
