Abstract

135,903. Ford, A. Nov. 27, 1918. Window frames.-A window is constructed of a number of metal sashes A rectangular in form and made by notching and bending a strip of L- section, the shallow web 2 forming the face of the sash. The sashes are combined, with or without vertical and horizontal reinforcing-bars 6, 7, in a surrounding frame 4 of channel section, which is filled with tarred rope, felt, &c., and may be fitted in a rabbeted wooden frame B and secured by turn-buttons &c. The sashes are secured by welding, or by tongues on one bent over and engaging holes in the adjacent sash. The reinforcing bars 6, 7 are joined by notching and halving, and have shouldered ends riveted in the frame 4. A weather-strip 11 of zinc &c. may be fitted to the bottom of the frame 4 to protect the wooden frame B. The sashes A are glazed with putty on the inside.
