Abstract

1358799 Dermatomes VSESOJUZNY NAUCHNO - ISSLEDOVATELSKY INSTITUT KHIRURGICHESKOI APPARATURY I INSTRUMENTOV 12 July 1972 [15 Oct 1971] 32512/72 Heading A5R A dermatome has a knife 5 reciprocable along guides 4 by means of a crank 17 associated with a drive shaft 16 extending through the handle of the dermatome, and a counterweight 13 reciprocable along the guides 4 in a direction opposite to that of the knife 5 whereby vibration of the dermatome in use is reduced, means being provided for adjusting the thickness and width of the skin transplant being cut away. As described the counterweight is located below the knife and is in the form of a panel connected via rod 21 with a crank pin 19 of crank 17 which is diametrically opposed, with respect to the axis of the drive shaft, to a crank pin 18 connected to a backplate 6 of the knife 5. The means for adjusting the width of the transplant comprises a pair of members 23 independantly adjustable along a calibrated support bar 2 of the dermatome housing. The thickness of the transplant is determined by a bar 26 which is adjustable with respect to the knife blade 9 by a screw mechanism, the thickness of the transplant being indicated on a dial on the support bar 2.
