Abstract

857,920. Stapling apparatus. TAKEHARA, K. Feb. 6, 1957 [Feb. 7, 1956], No. 4135/57. Class 120(3). [Also in Groups VIII and XXIII] Fibre is stapled by apparatus comprising a cutting roller 4 having a surface of hard material 3, e.g. porcelain, at least one idler pressure roller 8 applying pressure to the fibre as it is fed into the apparatus, and a blade-carrying shaft 12 upon which are mounted blades 14 extending parallel to the axis of the roller 4 and over its entire width, the blades 14 contacting the roller 4 as they rotate. The blades 14 are secured to a starsectioned mounting 13 on the shaft 12 which is carried by blocks 11 adjustable with respect to the roller 4, for re-sharpening of the blades, by worm and worn wheel gearing. The blades 14 are arranged to move at a greater linear speed than the hard surface 3 and in the opposite direction.
