Abstract

1358697 Valves UNITED KINGDOM ATOMIC ENERGY AUTHORITY 18 Jan 1972 [27 Jan 1971] 3299/71 Heading F2V A valve comprises an annular valve seat 2 having a seating surface 3, a valve member 5 with a screw-in portion 7 having a partspherical surface 7a, and an actuating rod 4 having a spherical portion 4a and a protrusion 11 such that to open the valve a spring 12 is compressed against inlet fluid pressure and stiction until the protrusion 11 makes contact with the valve member 5 whereafter the latter pivots an initial opening movement to open the valve. In an alternative embodiment a spring washer (17) (Figs. 2, 3, not shown) provides the initial eccentric opening force.
