Abstract

1358146 Modifying ferrous surfaces AMINKEMI A B 24 Feb 1972 [9 March 1971] 8693/72 Heading C7U Iron and steel surfaces are contacted with a solution of e.g. 0À1 to 1À0% of lithium hydroxide in an organic solvent, e.g. an alcohol, ketone, amide, sulphone or sulphoxide, nitrite, glycolethers, nitro compounds, and amines. The solution may also contain a wetting agent, e.g. alkyl aryl sulphonate or a thickening agent e.g. colloidal solicic acid. The surfaces may be subsequently painted with red lead.
