Abstract
1357268 Electric couplings YUKEN KOGYO CO Ltd 27 Sept 1972 [30 Sept 1971] 44567/72 Heading H2E [Also in Division H1] A solenoid comprising a core 11, coil 12, and coil leads 13 adapted to operate a known valve (not shown) is mounted in casing 1 to one side of which is secured an insulant base 3 having connectors 4 for external conductors comprising seats 5, washers 6, and screws 7; connecting pieces 8 being integral with the seats and independent contacts 9 being mounted on base 3 spacedly from connecting pieces 8. Contacts 9 are respectively connected to sockets 9<SP>1</SP> over plugs 15 within insulant supporting members 14 which are connected to coil 12 over leads 13 (Figs. 1, 2). An insulant contact plate (Fig. 3, not shown) retained by screws (not shown) and covering a recess of casing 1 has plural projections retaining U-shaped circuit elements interconnecting contact pieces 8, 9 and the solenoid is energized from external connections attached to connectors 4. Alternatively an insulant contact plate 16b carrying in recess 26 a circuit protector having a heater 20 and thermal contact 21 shunted by indicator neon 22 in series with the coil is removably mounted on casing 1 with insulant projection 27 formed thereon to carry opposed contact pieces 28, 29 engaging contacts 8, 9 with an external supply connected to contacts 4 (Fig. 4). A further insulant contact plate 16c containing circuit energization indicator lamps 22 in a recess may be secured to contact plate 16b with connection over dependent contact piece 33 engaging contact 29<SP>1</SP> in plate 16b, and a further contact plate 16d with dependent contact piece 38 engaging contact 34 of plate 16c carries plug and socket 40 for supply cable 41. Contact plates 16b, 16c, 16d may be interchangeably stacked and secured to casing 1 to establish the inter electrical connections of Fig. 4. The operating solenoids are duplicated to operate a double valve. In a modification (Fig. 5, not shown) contact plate 16d is directly mounted on the solenoid casing and in Fig. 6 (not shown), full wave rectifiers for supplying energization current from an A.C. source are mounted in a further contact plate on which the plate 16d may be superimposed. Thus the solenoid may be connected to a D.C. source or to an A.C. source directly, or through a plug socket connector, or provided with circuit protectors or indicator lamps by selective assembly of plural terminal structures.
