1356440 Colour television tubes LICENTIA PATENT-VERWALTUNGS-GmbH 6 July 1971 [7 July 1970] 31698/71 Heading H1D A colour TV tube comprising a faceplate, cone and tube neck includes a colour mask mounted on the inner wall of the face plate, a ferromagnetic screening funnel 6 releasably attached to the envelope or the colour mask for detachment independently of the colour mask. Three mounting projections 8, may be of the same material as the envelope or may be pins, e.g. of metal, fitted in the glass cone, and may extend into openings in brackets 7. In Fig. 2 (not shown) the funnel 6 itself includes openings and is directly attached to the projections and the detachable mounting effected either by elastic construction of funnel 6 or by providing the openings with at least one tab which is bent over after fitting. The mounting may include a twist tab or bent over tab through a slot construction. The cone may include outwardly bent tongues or flanges (12) (Fig. 3, not shown) which clip fit on to carriage (10) colour mask 4 or by tongues (13) (Fig. 4, not shown) projecting through openings in carrier (10) and subsequently twisted or bent over. In Figs. 5 and 5a (not shown), openings (16) are aligned in carrier (10) and tongues or an annular flange (14) on the funnel and a resilient metal clip (15) fitted therein, or alternatively two aligned openings (19), (20) may be provided at each mounting point, the fixing being by elastic metal clip (18) e.g. of wire. Also, the projections for mounting the colour mask may additionally serve to support the funnel by brackets similar to Fig. 1. The tubes may employ glass solder 5. As an alternative to projections, recesses in the cone may be provided for releasable attachments. The releasable attachment provides resiliency to avoid transference of distortion due to manufacturing tolerances or thermal expansions and the screening funnel may be mounted after manufacture of the fluorescent screen.
