Abstract

1353034 Lubricants AGIP SpA 18 May 1971 [19 May 1970] 15650/71 Heading C5F An anti-acid lubricant comprises (i) a synthetic or mineral lubricating oil; (ii) 2-40% of at least one neutral or overbased alkaline earth metal sulphonate, phenate or sulphophenate; (iii) 2-15% of an ester or alkaline earth metal salt of a C 10 -C 30 monocarboxylic acid or C 10 -C 30 organic oxyacid; and (iv) 0À01-10% of an ashless dispersant/detergent. Many ingredients (ii), (iii) and (iv) are specified. Ingredient (iv) may be a long-chain polycarboxylic ester, ester/ether or ester/amide, or an alkenyl-n-substituted succinimide. Barium stearate, ethyl oleate, stearyl palmitate, isopropyl laurate, oleyl oleate, calcium oleate, and amyl hydroxystearate are exemplified as (iii). The compositions are useful in marine engines.
