Abstract

1352400 Exothermic reactions FARBWERKE HOECHST AG 19 April 1971 [6 April 1970] 26358/71 Headings B1F and B1X A process for carrying out an exothermic reaction, e.g. catalytic, requiring a high starting temperature comprises passing a feed reaction mixture and a product mixture from the reaction through adjoining conduits of a heat exchanger, or conduits of a heat exchanger disposed immediately adjacently one within the other, to effect heat exchange between the product mixture and the feed reaction mixture, the product mixture and the feed reaction mixture both flowing through the heat-exchanger in the same direction, the arrangement being such that the heat exchanger serves both as a heat exchanger and as a reactor. Thus in Fig. 3, feed reaction mixture from 3 flows along outer tube 2 and is heated by product mixture from 4 flowing through inner tube 1.
