Abstract

1351935 Bearing DOWTY SEALS Ltd 22 July 1971 [13 May 1970] 23115/70 Heading E2F A bearing having limited angular movement comprises two members 1, 2 relatively moveable to one another about an axis. The member 1 comprises a cylindrical wall 4 having three equally spaced internally directed projections 5, which includes a part-circular groove 6. Balls 3 engage in the groove 6 and also engage the undersurface 8 of a flange 9 of member 2. The member 2 comprises a hub portion 11 from which extends three radial projection 12 and the flange 9. Within each projection 12 is a part-circular groove 13, and balls 3 in the groove 13 also engage a partfrusto-conical undersurface 14 of the projections 5. In the flange 9; a slot 15 is formed which co-operates with a pin 16 insertable into part 4 of member 1, the dimensions of the slot being such as to limit the relative angular movement between the members to an amount within which the balls in the grooves 13 remain in contact with their associated frusto-conical surface 14. Preferably the members 1 and 2 are made from glass fibre reinforced nylon.
